Game Night
Those that made it to Game Night had a good time. Two soups were served with sandwiches and not much was left. Some had a bowl of both as they were both delicious. Many types of games were played and the night ended with Bingo. Thank you to all those who volunteered to make it successful.

A German Historical Timeline

1961 –– Communists build a wall around free West Berlin and heavily fortify the border between the GDR and the FRG. The purpose is to stop the flow of East Germans fleeing the wretched GDR.

1989 –– A reformed communist government in Hungary allows East German tourists to escape west into Austria, from where they can proceed to West Germany and gain instant citizenship. Tens of thousands flee the GDR by that route, precipitating a chain of events that forces the GDR to open their borders with the FRG. Hard line communist leaders of the GDR resign.

1990 –– East Germany’s first free elections bring real democratic leaders to power who favor immediate unity with West Germany. President Mikhail Gorbachev of the Soviet Union allows the Russian Zone (GDR) of occupied Germany to unite with the FRG.
